Kitchen Area

The kitchen is a nice size and the layout is going to be similar to what we tore out. We are going to move the refrigerator to another wall to make room for a larger range. We removed the peninsula island and will have a center island instead.

On the other side of the kitchen area was a half bath that opened right into the kitchen and a crazy little pantry closet with tiny shelves (I don't know what they were thinking). Also in this area was the washer/dryer that you had to access from the garage and the water heater.

My dad will appreciate this: Tim removed the water heater and drained it. It was big and old, I think Tim said 80 gallon. Anyway he wanted to put it in the dumpster. By this time the dumpster was so full that we could no longer open the door because stuff would fall out. After several failed attempts he and I finally picked it up high enough to push it up and over the edge of the dumpster. It was brutal!

We are moving the washer/dryer to the 2nd floor and replacing the water heater with a tankless one which opened up a lot of room. Now this area will have a built-in refrigerator, a pantry cabinet under the stairs and a small hall to the bathroom.
